OLA KOLEHMAINEN: AWARDED HONORARY FELLOWSHIP, ROYAL INSTITUTE OF BRITISH ARCHITECTS

Photographer Ola Kolehmainen has been awarded an honorary fellowship at the Royal Institute of British Architects 2015. The RIBA awarded fellowships to 13 individuals from a diverse spectrum of backgrounds, including the worlds of engineering, media, education and the arts.

RIBA Honorary Fellowships are an annual acknowledgment of people who have made a particular contribution to architecture in its broadest sense.

The 2015 RIBA Honorary Fellowships will be awarded at a special event at the RIBA on 2 February 2015.

AWOISKA VAN DER MOLEN: 'SEQUESTER', 2014

A beautiful monograph on the work of Dutch photographer Awoiska van der Molen, 'Sequester' brings together works taken over a five year period from 2009 - 2014.

"... a richly printed collection of mostly nocturnal landscapes, Awoiska van der Molen’s traditional approach to analogue photography and printing is complemented by the book’s technical achievements."

Purdy Hicks Gallery will present Awoiska van der Molen at the 2014 edition of Paris Photo; 'Sequester' has been shortlisted for the Paris Photo - Aperture Foundation Photobook Awards.

TESSA TRAEGER: 'THE CALLIGRAPHY OF DANCE' FEATURED IN WALLPAPER* OCTOBER 2014

"Faced with the task of investigating the collection, Richard Scott [10th Duke of Beccleuch] appointed Paul Boucher as its curator and research director, and together they came up with the idea of appointing an unofficial artist in residence who could express the music collection in visual terms. Which is where Traeger comes in."

The Calligraphy of Dance, a new exhibition of photographs by Tessa Traeger, inspired by the Montagu Music Collection at Boughton House, will be shown in a one day exhibition at Boughton House on 27th September, followed by an exhibition at Purdy Hicks Gallery in early 2015.

SAMUEL FOSSO: FEATURE IN THE NEW YORKER, 12 SEPTEMBER 2014

"...Fosso gained international recognition; today, he is widely considered one of Africa’s most important contemporary artists. Last February, amid catastrophic violence in the Central African Republic, Fosso’s studio was ransacked and much of his archive destroyed. Despite this, the Walther Collection in New York has managed to stage a solo exhibition of Fosso’s work..."

“Samuel Fosso” is on view at the Walther Collection through January 17, 2015.

BETTINA VON ZWEHL: VICTORIA & ALBERT MUSEUM PUBLISH 'MADE UP LOVE SONG' (2014)

'Made up Love Song' is a series of 34 portrait photographs produced during Bettina von Zwehl’s residency at the Victoria & Albert Museum in 2011. The photographs depict V&A Visitors Services Assistant Sophia Birikorang, who sat for von Zwehl two or three times a week over the six-month period.

Published by the V&A to accompany the series - the full-colour, hard-back catalogue is available to purchase from Purdy Hicks Gallery.
