SHADOWCATCHERS: CAMERA-LESS PHOTOGRAPHY REVISED AND EXPANDED EDITION

The accompanying book to the Shadowcatchers exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2010 is available in an updated and fully revised edition. The publication, written by Martin Barnes Senior Curator of Photographs at the V&A, surveys the work of five leading practitioners, including Susan Derges, who, by casting shadows on light-sensitive paper or by chemically manipulating its surface, capture the presence of objects, figures or glowing light. The resulting pictures are consistently powerful, often with surreal effects and symbolic content.

Published by Merrell, in association with the V & A, £39.95 Hardback ISBN 978-1-8589-4592-7, 208 pages, 120 colour illustrations
