A reinterpretation of the flower motif, combining experimentation, ethics, and ecology.
Texts by Beata Nowak and Michel Poivert
Contemporary photography offers a stimulating reinterpretation of the flower motif, emblematic of an awareness and aesthetic of living things. This reveals a formidable laboratory for regenerating photography and its production processes. The thirty artists featured in this book, including Kathrin Linkersdorff and Anais Tonduer, give voice to the matter and substances that make up flowers, to the scents they emit. All of them propose an ethical approach, whether through metaphors and symbols, through more environmentally friendly photographic protocols, or through the use of ancient, pre-digital techniques such as cyanotype or anthotype. Ecological icons, flowers are not a fad, they are a topical issue.
