Omar Fakhoury

Omar Fakhoury (b. 1979, Beit Chabab, Lebanon) primarily works with painting, while also exploring video installations and site-specific urban sculptures and interventions. His work focuses on Lebanon’s complex political and urban fabric. His interest in public space and the elements that mark territories is reflected in his painting and sculptural works.


Fakhoury writes of his recent series, Rubber Trees,

Our bedroom windows are living screens looking out onto a giant rubber tree.  These drawings are compulsive recordings of this VJ stream - a live performance, shaped by light and wind. 


He received a Bachelor’s degree in Painting and Drawing from the Lebanese University, followed by a Master of Fine Arts from Paris I – Sorbonne in 2004.  He is currently a lecturer at the Lebanese University (IBA II).
